Safe and Sustainable Communities

To help the most vulnerable groups of people affected by a natural disaster to cope with the disaster and increase the resiliency of communities towards future disasters.

The programme focuses on meeting the immediate needs of disaster survivors to enable them to recover from the effects of the disaster. The programme also helps communities to become better prepared to reduce risk and damage of future disasters through disaster risk reduction activities and formation of a task force team to take action at the time of any disaster in order to save lives and reduce the impact of the disaster.

The programme aims for the following major outcomes:

  1. Vulnerable groups of people access relief and support following a natural disaster.
  2. Communities at risk of natural disaster have enhanced capacity for disaster management and minimizing disaster risk and damage.
